- Nos despojos da crise económica e financeira: a inviabilidade de uma moeda mundialPublication . Vila Maior, PauloA crise económica e financeira colocou o mundo perante desafios sem precedentes. A criação de uma moeda mundial – como resposta à crise e como medida preventiva de futuras crises – é equacionada. A moeda mundial esbarra em três obstáculos que têm diferentes enfoques teóricos: teoria realista (relações internacionais), teoria das escolhas racionais (ciência política) e teoria das zonas monetárias óptimas (ciência económica). A heterogeneidade é o pano de fundo da economia política real que domina a economia internacional, liquidando as aspirações da moeda mundial. The ongoing crisis raised important challenges. The idea of creating a world currency to overcome the crisis and to prevent future crisis is examined. However appealing it might be, the idea of a world currency faces three obstacles with different theoretical insights: realism (international relations), rational choice (political science), and the optimum currency area theory (economics). Theoretical heterogeneity is the political economic template of international economics, therefore jeopardising the aspirations of a world currency.
- A herança transgeracional no indivíduo: um estudo de casoPublication . Duque, CátiaA família cria um espaço onde cada membro desenvolve os seus papéis e a sua individualidade, usando a herança transgeracional como base de aprendizagem. Contudo, a transgeracionalidade pode levar ao estabelecimento de papéis disfuncionais numa família, obrigando o indivíduo a confrontar-se com a sua origem e os seus valores, projectando o seu comportamento através do que aprendeu com os progenitores. Este artigo debruça-se sobre o impacto da transgeracionalidade no indivíduo, apresentando um estudo de caso para ilustrar a temática abordada. The family creates a space where each member develops his roles and his individuality, using his heritage as a basis for intergenerational learning. However, transgenerationality can lead to the establishment of dysfunctional family papers, forcing the individual to confront his origin and values, projecting his behavior by what he learned with his parents. This article aims at an exhibition on the impact of transgenerationality in the individual, presenting a case study to illustrate the theme.
- Crenças e representações sociais dos adolescentes sobre a violência interpessoalPublication . Machado, Lúcia; Sani, Ana Isabel; Oliveira, MadalenaPara avaliar as crenças de adolescentes sobre a violência interpessoal realizamos um estudo quantitativo com 522 estudantes do ensino secundário do Norte e Centro de Portugal, de ambos os géneros e com idades entre os 15 e os 19 anos. Os dados recolhidos através da Escala de Crenças da Criança sobre a violência revelaram que os argumentos legitimadores dos actos violentos derivam de razões de ordem social, cultural, educacional, mas sobretudo individual. verificaram-se diferenças estatisticamente significativas para o total e em factores da ECCv em função do género e níveis etários. To assess adolescents’ beliefs about interpersonal violence we conducted a quantitative study of 522 high school students in northern Portugal, of both sexes and aged between 15 and 19 years old. Data collected through the Belief Scale of the Child on violence revealed that the arguments for legitimizing violent acts derived from social, cultural and educational reasons, but above all from individual reasons. There were significant differences in total and factors of ECCv gender and age levels.
- Negociação e GRH: resultados provisórios de um estudo qualitativoPublication . Moreira, Ricardo Bessa; Cunha, PedroAbordar a negociação organizacional implica uma visão integrada sobre o processo negocial. As relações de poder entre o departamento de GRH e as diferentes divisões podem influenciar a performance organizacional. Este estudo baseia-se na análise de 20 entrevistas realizadas a outros directores de departamento(s) e unidade(s) sobre o papel negocial do departamento de GRH. De entre as principais conclusões, confirma-se a ideia de que o poder negocial subjacente à Gestão de Recursos Humanos pode ultrapassar uma lógica exclusivamente departamental. The study of the organizational negotiation requires an integrated view of the negotiation process. The balance of power between the HRM department and the other bodies plays a key role in organizational performance. This study is based upon the narrative analysis of 20 interviews undertaken with other department and unit directors regarding the role played by the HRM department in the negotiation process. One of the main findings of this study is that the idea that the power of negotiation inherent in HRM can transcend an exclusively departmental logic does indeed hold true.
- O crime da globalização e a globalização do crimePublication . Nunes, Laura M.Pode afirmar-se que crime e globalização se associam, de forma a que o primeiro acabe por revelar novas modalidades, desenhando novas configurações para os velhos crimes através da abertura propiciada pela globalização e pelas novas tecnologias de comunicação. Do jogo à prostituição, do tráfico de seres humanos à fraude, do roubo às acções terroristas, o crime expande-se globalmente. O presente artigo procura apresentar brevemente esta nova realidade e apela à necessidade de se adequarem os mecanismos de controlo social. It can be argued that globalization and crime are associated, since crime ends up revealing new modalities and being extended to new configurations through the obtained by globalization and new communication technologies. From Illegal gambling, prostitution, fraud, human traffic to terrorist acts, crime spreads itself globally. This article aims to present briefly this new reality, and to draw the attention for the need to adapt the social control mechanisms.
- The portuguese in Venezuela: a continuous presencePublication . Utilizando uma abordagem simultaneamente histórica e antropológica, os autores tentam demonstrar como a comunidade de origem lusitana constitui um bom exemplo de integração na sociedade venezuelana. The Portuguese have played a formative role in the history of venezuela since the colonial period. They are also one of the largest and most prominent immigrant groups in the present. This article will examine Portuguese immigration in both historical and ethnographic perspectives to show how their presence in venezuela has been characterized by continuous and seamless integration. In doing so, we will reveal important continuities between the ease of Portuguese adaptation into venezuelan society in both the past and the present.
- Avaliação dos motores de pesquisa como ferramenta de conhecimento: (estudo de Caso Google, SlideShare, YouTube)Publication . Bandeira, Fernando; Dias, Tânia Marisa FernandesO presente artigo visa avaliar o desempenho dos motores de pesquisa na Internet. Metodologicamente recorre a duas linhas de investigação que derivam, uma dos sistemas de recuperação de documentos e a outra do modelo de análise de documentos da Internet. Para responder as estas questões avalia: a adequação, a precisão, a densidade média de termos, o peso percentual dos descritores, o tipo e a fonte dos documentos. As conclusões evidenciam que o Google ocupa a primeira posição, o SlideShare a segunda e o YouTube a terceira. This article aims to evaluate the performance of Internet search engines. In methodological grounds it applies two different research traditions, one used to evaluate text retrieval systems the other is the model used to assess Internet documents. To answer these questions it uses the following indicators: precision, recall, average terms density, concept percent wage, document type and source. Conclusions are that Google is leading search engine followed by SlideShare and YouTube.
- Obstáculos e factores promotores da procura de tratamento no alcoolismoPublication . Rodrigues, Marta Alexandra Fernandes; Teixeira, ZéliaA presente investigação encontra-se alicerçada em dois objectivos principais, caracterização do consumo de álcool e motivação para o tratamento. Desta forma, apresentamos os dados recolhidos entre Janeiro e Junho de 2009, numa amostra de 52 utentes da Unidade de Alcoologia do Porto, serviço de ambulatório, sendo 30 utentes do sexo masculino e 22 do sexo feminino. A amostra situa-se entre os 23 e os 62 anos, tendo como média de idade 44,6 anos. Através de uma entrevista semi-estruturada analisaram-se os motivos para procurar tratamento, obstáculos e factores promotores desta etapa, e consequências do consumo. Os resultados obtidos apontam para a necessidade de não se desvincular o background dos utentes do momento do pedido de ajuda e que, numa fase inicial, possivelmente seria mais produtivo explorar as consequências do consumo, ou seja, as experiências negativas que constituem o seu dia-a-dia, na medida em que, nesta fase a reflexão sobre as vantagens da abstinência é algo de difícil antevisão. Salienta-se ainda, que o reconhecimento e consciência das diferenças entre os sexos, pode ser usado como uma ferramenta na maximização da eficácia das intervenções. This research is based on two main objectives, a characterization of alcohol consumption and the motivation for treatment. This way, we present the data collected between January and June 2009, a sample of 52 patients of the Alcohology Unit of Porto, outpatient service, 30 of those being male users and the remaining 22 being females. The sample’s age range is between 23 and 62 years, and it’s average is 44.6 years. Through a semi-structured interview we have analyzed the reasons to seek treatment, barriers and factors that promote this step, and consequences of the abuse. Results point to the need not to unlink the background of patients at the time of the aid application and that, at an early stage, it would possibly be more productive to explore the consequences of the consumption, i.e. the negative experiences that make up their day-to-day, insofar as, at this stage the reflection on the benefits of abstinence is something difficult to preview at this stage. Noted that the recognition and awareness of the differences between the sexes can be used as a tool in maximizing the effectiveness of interventions.
- Variáveis explicativas do sucesso escolar: um estudo no 3.º ciclo do ensino básicoPublication . Paiva, Maria Olímpia; Rosa, Victor Pereira da; Lourenço, Abílio AfonsoEstudou-se o papel explicativo do autoconceito nos comportamento disruptivo dos alunos, bem como a influência destes no sucesso académico. A amostra é constituída por 217 alunos do 3.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico do centro do Porto. Foi utilizada a Escala da Disrupção Escolar Professada pelos alunos (EDEP) e a Escala de Autoconceito – “Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept Scale-2” (PHCSCS-2). Os resultados sugerem que os alunos com autoconceito mais elevado manifestam menos comportamentos disruptivos (β=-.23), bem como melhor rendimento escolar (β=-.30). Por sua vez, o autoconceito exerce uma influência directa e positiva sobre as notas. Das variáveis em estudo, as Notas (14%) e o Autoconceito (13%) são as mais explicadas no modelo. Poder-se-á ainda inferir que os alunos que apresentam um maior número de reprovações são os que investem menos tempo no seu estudo (α=-.19), como também apresentam metas escolares menos ambiciosas (α=-.21). This article studies the impact of self-concept in disruptive behavior, as well as the influence of these behaviors on academic achievement. A sample of 217 middle school students was selected in Oporto. We used the Disruptive Behavior Scale Professed by Students (DBS-PS) and the Scale of Self-concept – “Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept-2” (PHCSCS-2). The results suggest that students with higher self-concept show less disruptive behavior (β=-.23), and a better performance in school (β=-.30). In turn, the self-concept exerts a direct and positive influence on the Academic achievement. Of the variables studied, the grades (14%) and Self –concept (13%) are the more explained in the model. It might even be inferred that students who have an increased number of failures are those that invest less time in their study (α =-. 19), but also have less ambitious school goals (α =-. 21).
- As políticas de formação de professores no Brasil frente às mudanças paradigmáticas do século XX para o século XXIPublication . Porto, Maria José Fernandes; Reinaldo, Telma Bonifácio dos SantosO presente artigo trata da formação inicial dos professores para atuarem na Educação Básica a partir das mudanças advindas da legislação oficial brasileira, das analises acadêmicas e cientificas dos estudiosos da educação e mais precisamente das demandas social e político-econômica do mundo globalizado. Analisa-se a formação do professor reflexivo e do desenvolvimento das competências nucleares a formação inicial. Para tanto se recorre a legislação normatizadora que delineia o percurso formativo e suas interpretações a luz de autores especializados sobre o tema. This article from this initial training of teachers to work in Basic Education from the changes arising from the official Brazilian legislation, analysis of academic and scientific scholars of education and more specifically of the social and political demands of the globalized world economy. Analyze the reflexive teacher’s formation and development of core competencies to training. Therefore one uses the normalizing legislation that outlines the training path and their interpretations of light expert authors on the subject.
