A igreja de Águas Santas: contribuição para o estudo da história e cronologia da sua construção

Abstract

Datar as fases de construção dos templos românicos apresenta muitas dificuldades devido à ausência de documentação adequada, encarregando-se o tempo e as obras de ampliação/restauro de apagar os vestígios que poderiam ajudar a fazê-lo. Estes templos começaram a ser construídos na europa por volta do século XI e em Portugal nos séculos XII e XIII, regra geral pelas ordens militares religiosas, acompanhando a reconquista cristã e o consequente repovoamento do território. no que se refere à igreja de Águas santas, procurou-se datar as várias fases da construção/ampliação com base em textos documentais nas datas ou marcas, ainda visíveis, gravadas nas suas paredes, tendo sido possível identificar 6 fases. A primeira destas fases, correspondente à construção da colateral Norte que terá sido edificada antes de 1120, sobre um anterior templo visigótico e a última nos anos oitenta do século XX. To date the phases of construction of the romanics temples presents a lot of difficulties due to the absence of appropriate documentation, while the time and the enlargement / restoring jobs erase the tracks that could help to do it. these temples began to be built in europe in the century XI and in Portugal in the centuries XII and XIII, generally for the religious military orders, accompanying the christian reconquest and the consequent repopulation of the territory. in what concerns to the Águas santas’s church, people tried to date the several phases of the construction / enlargement based in documental texts in the dates or marks, still visible, recorded in their walls, having been possible to identify 6 phases. The first of these phases, corresponding to the construction of the north collateral that will have been built before 1120, over a previous visigothic temple and the last at the eighties of the century XX.
