Abstract(s)
Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in Physiotherapists in Portugal, as well as to try to understand which factors, personal and in the work context, relate with them. Methodology: The sample used in this study consisted of 300 physiotherapists working in Portugal (n = 300). All of them completed an individual survey, in order to obtain information about their individual and working characteristics, and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. Results: It was found that, in general, physiotherapists present greater complaints of pain in the lumbar, neck, thoracic, knee, shoulder and wrist / hand regions. Dividing by areas of work, the Cardiorespiratory area was the one that obtained the highest mean of pain recorded in the neck region, followed by the areas of Geriatrics and Pediatrics with pain in the lower back. Relating pain to the work area, only in some areas occurred significant relationships. Conclusion: We conclude that physiotherapists are keen to musculoskeletal symptoms, especially in the lower back, and the work area, years of work and working week hours are a predisposing factor for symptoms.
