Abstract(s)
It is known that school management is one of the crucial factors in the educational process. In order for success to be successful, a horizontal communication in which everyone actively participates with ideas that are conducive to the proper functioning of the school is indispensable. When autonomy and participation are the pillars of a management, it promotes the critical-reflexive development of students to act in society in a participatory manner. In day-to-day school life, the manager's job involves many challenges such as articulating the management process and delegating responsibilities. School management is a collective process, developed in partnership with the entire school community. The Brazilian Constitution establishes as a principle of the public school democratic management. In this way, decision-making is done through a collegial deliberation, the basis of which is dialogue. This study was based essentially on a qualitative approach, aiming at effectively understanding the process of democratic and participative management of the public school, specifically in the Pedro Álvares Cabral Teaching Center. With regard to the collection of information, the option of a questionnaire survey was used for primary and secondary school teachers. The results show that, in general, teachers reveal that the Pedro Álvares Cabral Teaching Center has worked hard and developed a management focused on the principles of participation and autonomy. It is obvious that every school faces difficulties and challenges, but given the inquiries applied, it is generally perceived that Management has developed an articulating, flexible, participatory and democratic work throughout the school environment.
