Abstract(s)
The grammar requires certain components to be functional and appropriate to the textual context. When we analyze it, we see that it makes sense when we give it the necessary importance to the structures called words. Morphology is the study that is devoted to analyzing these structures, in particular, its components called morphemes. Recent studies suggest that the development of morphological awareness (ability to reflect on the morphemes and on the words) affect success in reading and writing. In this context, it becomes important to know the level of morphological awareness in children of preschool age. This study evaluates 38 children from five years of age (15 female and 23 male) in their ability to produce, identify, categorize, segment and delete radicals and derivational morphemes.
