O presente trabalho aborda a reabilitação de edifícios antigos em alvenaria de pedra, com particular incidência nas construções do centro histórico da cidade do Porto. A área da reabilitação tem suscitado crescente interesse, tanto ao nível dos intervenientes ligados à construção, como dos proprietários de imóveis. O trabalho inicia pela descrição da evolução urbana da cidade do Porto ao longo do tempo, descreve os seus edifícios antigos em termos de características arquitectónicas e estruturais e, por último, refere de forma generalizada algumas soluções de reforço estrutural ao nível das fundações e das alvenarias de pedra. Apesar de não ter havido um caso prático de estudo, onde as soluções de reforço estrutural pudessem na eventualidade ter sido aplicadas, obtiveram-se algumas mais valias, nomeadamente: compreensão do funcionamento das estruturas antigas, principalmente ao nível da constituição do sistema construtivo e dos materiais constituintes. This paper addresses the rehabilitation of old buildings in stone masonry, with particular focus on buildings of the historic centre of Porto. The field of rehabilitation has attracted increasing interest, both in terms of actors associated with the construction, as the owners of the property. It begins by describing the evolution of the town of Porto over time, describes its ancient buildings in terms of architectural and structural characteristics and, finally, refers in a general way, some solutions to structurally reinforce the level of foundations and masonry store. Although there hadn´t been any practical case study, where the structural strengthening solutions could have been applied, we obtained some gains, including: understanding of the functioning of older structures, especially in terms of the constitution and the building system of the constituent materials.
