A (in)visibilidade das crianças na violência doméstica em Portugal

Nas últimas décadas, o fenômeno da violência doméstica em
Portugal tem ganhado uma visibilidade crescente, nos planos social e
acadêmico, com enfoque nos direitos dos adultos e especial incidência nos
direitos das mulheres. Neste texto, no âmbito do projeto de investigação
Just Child, procura-se analisar e discutir os lugares das crianças expostas
ao fenômeno da violência doméstica em Portugal. A partir da evolução dos
quadros jurídico-legais aplicáveis e das políticas públicas, observa-se que
as crianças têm ocupado um lugar periférico como vítimas reconhecidas
de violência doméstica, face à centralidade dos adultos, geralmente
mulheres. Sendo assim, é importante tornar a perspectiva do combate à
violência doméstica inclusiva da criança e diferenciada, tendo em vista
as suas necessidades específicas, diferentes da vítima adulta. Ressalta-se,
contudo, algumas exceções recentes a esta invisibilização, incluindo a
área da educação.
Over the recent decades, domestic violence in Portugal has become socially and academically more visible, especially with a focus on adult rights, namely on women rights. The purpose of this paper, within the Just Child project, is to explore the places of children exposed to domestic violence in Portugal. We observe that children have been regarded has peripheral victims of domestic violence, compared to adults, especially women. It is therefore important to make the perspective of combating domestic violence inclusive and differentiated, taking into account children’s specific needs, different from the adult victim. Yet, recent developments are exceptions to children’s invisibility, particularly in the field of education.
