- Página: espaço de reconfiguração do design de comunicação na cultura digitalPublication . Gonçalves, Sofia; Rui TorresNo território de passagem ou confluência do objecto ao sistema, o artigo procura circunscrever os aspectos essenciais da mudança de paradigma no design de comunicação operada pela cultura digital, utilizando o livro e a página como modelos exemplares de reflexo das alterações ocorridas. Do texto ao hipertexto, do plano ao “sítio”, estes artefactos constroem um possível “ecotone” para uma continuidade negociada, i.e. o local onde se encontram “tradicional” e “novo”, história e contemporaneidade, imprensa e média on-line, cultura material e cultura digital. In the realm of passage or confluence from the object to the system, this article tries to circumscribe the essential aspects of the change of paradigm operated by the digital culture within communication design, using the book and the page as exemplary reflexes of the changes occurred. From the text to the hypertext, from the plan to the “site”, these artifacts build up a possible “ecotone” for a negotiated continuity, i.e. the place where we find “traditional” and “new”, history and contemporanity, traditional press and on-line media, material culture and digital culture.
- Do verbo ao pixel: interfaces do poético em hipermédiaPublication . Santos e Silva, Débora Cristina; Rui TorresEste artigo propõe uma discussão acerca da função da leitura e da apreciação da literatura na formação do leitor, tendo como foco os espaços da escrita na hipermédia e a relação palavraimagem no ciberespaço. A pesquisa discute também o lugar da poesia enquanto objeto estético e fonte de conhecimento e criatividade, através da análise de alguns textos do poeta Arnaldo Antunes. Suscita ainda reflexões quanto à construção do texto poético em Ambientes Virtuais de Aprendizagem (AVA), a partir da experiência no curso de Licenciatura em Artes Visuais, em EAD, na Universidade Federal de Goiás. This article proposes a discussion about the function of reading and evaluation of literature in the reader’s learning process, focusing on the roles of writing in hypermedia as well as the word-image relation in cyberspace. The research discusses the role of poetry as an aesthetic subject and as a source of knowledge and creativity, taking as an examples works of the poet Arnaldo Antunes. This text aims at proposing a reflection on the making of the poetic text in Virtual Learning Environments, based on our experience as professor in the Visual Arts graduate course, taught through distance learning, at the Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG).

Portela, Manuel; Rui TorresNeste artigo analiso as releituras digitais dos poemas experimentais contidas no arquivo digital PO-EX: Poesia Experimental Portuguesa - Cadernos e Catálogos, projecto desenvolvido pelo Centro de Estudos sobre Texto Informático e Ciberliteratura (CETIC) da Universidade Fernando Pessoa (Porto, Portugal). Considero, em particular, a forma como a poética experimental é aplicada e transformada nos processos de remediação electrónica de um conjunto de textos de E. M. de Melo e Castro, Herberto Helder, José-Alberto Marques, Salette Tavares e António Aragão. Ao mesmo tempo em que reconfiguram os textos através de códigos de programação específicos, as recriações digitais revelam a complexa codificação linguística e gráfica da página impressa. In this article I analyze digital re-readings of experimental poems contained in the digital archive PO-EX: Poesia Experimental Portuguesa - Cadernos e Catálogos [PO-EX: Experimental Portuguese Poetry - Chapbooks and Catalogues]. This project was developed by the Center for the Study of Informatic Text and Cyberliterature (CETIC) at Fernando Pessoa University (Porto, Portugal). I consider how experimental poetics is applied and transformed in the processes of electronic remediation of visual and concrete texts by E. M. de Melo e Castro, Herberto Helder, José-Alberto Marques, Salette Tavares and António Aragão. While digital recreations redefine the source texts by means of specific programming codes, they also reveal the complex linguistic and graphical coding of the printed page.

- Educar para a leitura em hipermídia: desafios metodológicosPublication . Silva, Fabiano Correa da; Rui TorresO presente artigo busca fazer uma reflexão a respeito do papel da educação e do educador frente às novas tecnologias, por meio da investigação do ato de leitura na hipermídia. Pensar as diferentes e possíveis formas de se ler os mais variados tipos de textos e hipertextos é uma das formas atuais de educar as crianças, jovens e adultos que lidam quase que diariamente com os mais variados recursos tecnológicos. Portanto, o educador, ao contrário do que se possa pensar, não tem sua função menosprezada ou descartada neste momento de mudança que vivemos, mas, ao contrário, é reafirmada sua importância e sua necessidade como formador de sujeitos e cidadãos. The present article aims at reflecting about the role of education and the educator concerning new technologies, by means of investigating the act of reading hypermedia. Considering various possible ways of reading hypertexts of all kinds and forms is a current way of educating children, youths and adults who deal almost daily with the most varied technological resources. Therefore, the educator, contrary to what one can think, does not have his/her function overlooked or discarded at this time of change that we live in, yet it reaffirms his/her importance and necessity as tutor of subjects and citizens.
- O que há de comum entre tesauros e ontologiasPublication . Sales, Rodrigo de; Café, Lígia; Rui TorresTesauros e ontologias são instrumentos que representam o conhecimento especializado com base na articulação terminológica. Este artigo apresenta um conjunto de características semelhantes entre tesauros e ontologias. Foi empregado, no plano metodológico, o Método de Análise de Conteúdo de Laurence Bardin. No plano teórico, a pesquisa foi subsidiada pela Teoria Comunicativa da Terminologia (TCT). Os resultados apresentados possibilitam um entendimento mais apurado desses modelos de representação do conhecimento que, embora distintos, se aproximam em seus fundamentos. Thesauri and ontologies are tools that represent specialized knowledge that is based on terminological articulation. This article reveals a group of similar characteristics that are shared by thesauri and ontologies. Laurence Bardin’s Content Analysis Method was used for the methodology, and this was supported by the Teoria Comunicativa da Terminologia [Communicative Terminology Theory] (TCT) for the theoretical plane. The results presented allow a clearer understanding of these models of knowledge representation which, although distinct from one another, have certain areas in common.
- O zoon tecnologi.com: entidade emergente da neociberestrutura da informaçãoPublication . Parra Valcarce, David; Rui TorresNo início do século XXI assistimos a uma mudança no padrão de aprendizagem: dos textos escritos aprendidos a partir da sua leitura na escola à aquisição do conhecimento baseada em conteúdos audiovisuais visualizados em meios como a televisão e a Internet. Neste novo contexto que coincide com o advento da Sociedade da Informação, surge uma nova entidade, o zoon tecnologi.com, que se está a converter numa das colunas vertebrais da referida Sociedade da Informação. Do ponto de vista do mercado da informação, este conjunto de mudanças incide na formação de uma nova forma de tratar a informação, que denominamos ciberjornalismo, cujas características estão particularmente adaptadas às necessidades do zoon tecnologi.com. A justaposição de cinco gerações de ciberjornalismo num período de tempo extraordinariamente breve contribui para aprofundar as grandes mudanças que estão a ocorrer na estrutura da informação, agora transformada em neociberestrutura da informação. At the beginning of 21st century we are witnessing a change in the pattern of learning: from learning based in the reading of texts at school to the access of knowledge based in audio-visual contents watched on TV or the Internet. In this new context, that coincides with the emerging of Information Society, a new being is appearing, the zoon tecnologi.com, that will be one of the guiding forces of this Information Society. From the information market point of view, all of these changes are influencing a new treatment of information that we have called cyberjournalism, whose features are specially adapted to the requirements of the zoon tecnologi.com. The juxtaposition of five different generations of cyberjournalism in a very short period of time contributed to thedeepening of these great changes which are happening in the information structure, now converted into the information neocyberstructure.
- O meio digital e a produção midiáticaPublication . Shum, Lawrence; Rui TorresQue impactos a digitalização provoca nas formas de produção e consumo de produtos midiáticos? O artigo apresenta algumas possíveis respostas e aponta caminhos para a reflexão. O ponto de partida é um olhar para o meio digital a partir da fenomenologia peirceana. Em seguida, é traçado um paralelo entre as características e diferenças entre os meios analógico e digital e suas implicações nas maneiras como a informação pode ser armazenada, transmitida e editada. A hibridização das tecnologias e a convergência das mídias fazem com que as noções de multifuncionalidade e de otimização da eficiência perpassam não apenas o mundo do trabalho, mas também do entretenimento e das relações sociais. A emergência da cultura digital e seus desdobramentos parecem sugerir um vínculo entre teoria e prática, de modo que o processo de criação nos meios digitais seja resultado do diálogo entre o saber fazer e a análise crítica. What impact does digitization have on the production forms and consumption of mediatic products? This article shows a few possible answers and offers some food for thought. The starting point is to look at digital media from the point of view of Peircean phenomenology. In turn, the common aspects between the characteristics and differences in analogical and digital media and its implications on the ways that the information can be stored, transmitted and edited must be drawn up. The hybridization of technologies and the convergence of medias push the notions of multitasking and efficiency optimization beyond not only the universe of work but also that of entertainment and social relations. The emergence of the digital culture and its developments seem to suggest a link between theory and practice and, as such, the creation process in the digital media becomes the result of the dialogue between the act of knowing how to do something and the critical analysis.
- Análise de produções em linguagem hipermidiáticaPublication . Petry, Arlete dos Santos; Rui TorresEste texto se propõe a apresentar, empírica e teoricamente, possibilidades metodológicas para a análise de hipermídia, sendo que algumas dessas propostas são apenas indicadas, enquanto outras, experimentadas. Ao realizar as análises percebeu-se três possíveis tendências metodológicas, mesmo que nem sempre os autores explicitem uma preocupação no sentido da organização de uma metodologia. Feito esse trajeto, a reflexão recairá sobre o lugar da metodologia nessa nova linguagem que se passa a produzir. This paper aims to present, both empirically and theoretically, methodological possibilities for the analysis of hypermedia. Some of these propositions are just indicated, while others are experimented. When the analyses were done, three possible methodological tendencies were perceived, even though the authors do not always make clear their concern in the sense of the organization of a methodology. Upon the completion of this trajectory, the reflection will fall upon the place of the methodology in this new language that is being currently produced.
- Existe um novo cordel? Imaginário, tradição e ciberculturaPublication . Amorim, Maria Alice; Rui TorresConforme lembra Vieira (2006), o cordel é um todo sistêmico: envolve confluência de vários textos, conectividade de diversos sub-sistemas sígnicos. Espécie de contraponto à tradição, a cibercultura aparece como um modo de envolvimento entre cordelistas que, no ciberespaço, criam estratégias de comunicação, de emulação poética, e novo gênero cordelístico: as pelejas virtuais. Importante averiguar se, e em que medida, o diálogo entre cibercultura e tradição permite vislumbrar um “novo cordel” nas temáticas, nas estruturas do verso, do imaginário e do pensamento poético. As Vieira points out (2006), Cordel poetry is a systemic whole; it involves a confluence of different texts and the connectivity of different sub-systems of meaning. As a kind of counterpoint to tradition, cyberspace emerges as a mode of involvement between cordel poets, who use it to create communication strategies, poetic emulation and a new cordel genre: virtual competitions. It is important to determine whether and to what extent the dialogue between cyberculture and tradition allows glimpsing a “new cordel poetry” in the themes addressed, structures of the verse, the imagination and poetic thought.
