A presença tunisina em Portugal

Este artigo pretende dar a conhecer parcialmente os resultados de uma investigação que está nos seus inícios e que se quer continuar. Trata-se de apresentar a comunidade tunisina que vive em Portugal e particularmente a população feminina. O sentido que se imprime a este estudo é uma análise dos processos e estratégias de aculturação de cidadãos de um país árabo-muçulmano transplantados para uma sociedade europeia tradicionalmente católica. Para entender condutase trajectórias, remontámos às suas origens, através de um breve percurso histórico-político desde a independência do país até ao presente, tendo como vector a emancipação feminina. One of the aims of this article is to present the results of a study in progress. It describes the Tunisian community in Portugal and the female population in particular. One of the concerns of this study is to analyse the processes and strategies of the acculturation of Arabo-Muslim citizens transplanted into a European catholic society. In order to perceive its ways and manners, the study goes back to its origins of this community. Thus it offers a brief historical and political account from the time of the country’s independence to the present, focusing particularly on the emancipation of women.
