Abstract(s)
Objective: To summarize the existing literature on the analysis of the phenomenon of Burnout in physical therapists. Methodology: Computerized research was carried out in the databases Pubmed, Web of Science, Academic Search Complete, CINAHL Plus and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, to search for studies involving Burnout in Physiotherapists. Results: A total of 24 articles involving 2746 physiotherapists were included in the qualitative analysis. In the studies, the physical therapy intervention area, the assessment instrument, the sample characteristics, the number of participants and data on Burnout were analyzed. Although the prevalence of Burnout among physiotherapists is not high, physiotherapists, due to the nature of their work, are at risk of developing Burnout. Conclusion: The prevalence of Burnout in physical therapists is low/moderate. Emotional exhaustion is closely related to depersonalization and leads to a consequent reduced personal fulfillment. Professionals who work daily in life/death situations have higher levels of Burnout.
