Abstract(s)
Presentemente, é iminente a requalificação destes
A informação retida deste estudo surgirá organizada
This master thesis is challenged to create a methodological tool for assessing the quality of public space adjacent to the waterfronts of cities. For this, we need to understand this urban phenomenon in an international context, where there are cases of either success or failure. The first renovations in waterfronts happened since 1960 and with it a change in the way they perceive these spaces. Much in part by de-industrialization process, these sites, which hither to served particularly of trade routes leverage, come to constitute as important promoters of a public space of excellence, which will certainly enhance the image and identity of the city. Now, it is imminent the redevelopment of these spaces, which themselves are already privileged by the proximity to the water and that will serve man to enjoy, in his relentless pursuit of living spaces and meeting place where you can feel comfortable and safe. Once collected the teachings of such interventions, we set off for a literature review where authors with emphasis on matter not only of waterfronts, but also with regard to the planning and design of public space, are studied. The information retained by this study will appear organized in table format, thus building a methodological proposal distributed by themes that will form the basis to analyze the quality of public space in waterfronts that are proposed here. To prove their capabilities, this tool will be applied to a study case, which will retain some conclusions. For this purpose was chosen a sample of the water front of Porto.
