Abstract(s)
Objective: It was to analyze the effects of handball practice with the eventual development of posterior shoulder instability comparing groups of athletes with different ages (under-20 and senior) and comparing female and male athletes. Methodology: A sample of 44 players was evaluated, using goniometry of the range of motion of internal and external rotation and abduction, assessment of the muscular strength of the external and internal rotators. Subsequent instability was also evaluated using the Jerk Test. Results: Changes were found in rotation amplitudes demonstrating the presence of GIRD and alterations in the TMJ between female athletes and male athletes of the sub-20 level. Conclusion: Through this study and in view of the results found in the study sample, we concluded that sports practice or even age does not seem to have influenced the presence of posterior shoulder instability.
