Abstract(s)
SARS-CoV-2 is a new coronavirus genetically similar to SARS-CoV-1 but with structural differences that promote a higher transmission rate. It was detected in Wuhan, China, and declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). Severe acute respiratory syndrome, SARS-CoV-2, presents with symptoms such as cough, fever, difficulty breathing, fatigue or headache. This syndrome can evolve into a severe Covid-19 disease that mainly affects the respiratory tract and may develop pneumonia or dyspnea. To control the pandemic, the strategies used are security measures such as social distancing, frequent hand washing and the use of protective equipment. With regard to effective treatments for COVID-19, there is still no specific therapy developed, using primary therapies to relieve and control mild symptoms. In more severe cases, the use of some medications has proven to be effective. The pressure of the need for a vaccine that meets safety requirements is increasing due to the economic and global health consequences that the pandemic is having. The union of the scientific community was essential for the development of the vaccine in record time. It should be noted that despite the speed that this was developed, it meticulously fulfills all the requested requirements. In this literature review, several clinical trials were analyzed, both for drug therapy for hospitalized patients and for the development of the vaccine, where very satisfactory results were obtained in terms of efficacy and safety, highlighting the excellent work by the regulatory authorities and the scientific community.
