Tradução com adaptação cultural da “The Rivermead Visual Gait Assessment” para a língua portuguesa: análise da validade de constructo e confiabilidade da escala

Introdução: Atualmente, a implementação de instrumentos de avaliação na área da saúde assume um papel imprescindível na priorização de problemas, monitorização das alterações no estado de saúde e no rastreamento de problemas não identificados. Objetivo: traduzir e adaptar transculturalmente a Rivermead Visual Gait Assessment (RVGA) para a Língua Portuguesa, analisando a sua confiabilidade e validade de constructo. Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo do tipo observacional prospetivo, em pacientes do Hospital Escola da Universidade Fernando Pessoa. A adaptação decorreu de forma a respeitar cinco fases diferentes: tradução inicial, a síntese da tradução, a tradução de volta à língua original, a revisão pelo comité de peritos e finalmente o pré-teste da versão final. Resultados: Foi aplicada a escala RVGA a um total de 30 pacientes em dois momentos distintos. O coeficiente de correlação intraclasse apresentou um valor de 0,993 (IC95%: 0,985-0,997). O coeficiente Alfa de Cronbach, revelou uma excelente consistência interna em ambos os momentos de avaliação, com valores de 0,871 no primeiro e 0,879 no segundo momento de aplicação da escala. Conclusão: a versão final traduzida e adaptada para a língua portuguesa da escala RVGA mostrou ser um instrumento de avaliação confiável que parece medir de forma consistente as alterações no padrão de marcha em pacientes com caraterísticas do foro neurológico.
Introduction: Nowadays, the application of assessment instruments in the health area plays a crucial role in prioritizing problems, monitoring changes in health status and tracking unidentified problems. Objective: translate and cross-culturally adapt the Rivermead Visual Gait Assessment (RVGA) to Portuguese, analyzing its reliability and construct validity. Methods: A prospective observational study was carried out in patients at the Hospital Escola da Universidade Fernando Pessoa. The adaptation occurs in order to respect five different phases: initial translation, synthesis of the translation, translation back to the original language, review by the committee of experts and, finally, the pre-test of the final version. Results: It was applied the RVGA scale to 30 patients at two different times. The intraclass correlation coefficient presented a value of 0.993 (95% CI: 0.985-0.997). Cronbach's Alpha coefficient revealed excellent internal consistency in both evaluation moments, with values of 0.871 in the first and 0.879 in the second moment of the application of the scale. Conclusion: The final version translated and adapted to Portuguese of the RVGA proved to be a reliable validation instrument that consistently measures changes in gait patterns in patients with neurological diseases.
