Abstract(s)
Objective: Determine the effectiveness of Shock Wave therapy (SWT) in Achilles tendinopathies (TA) Methods: Research on computerized databases on PubMed/Medline, PEDro, ISI Web of knowledge, Scielo e Lilacs, in order to identify randomized controlled trials that assess the effectiveness of SWT in AT. Results: In this review were included 6 studies involving 360 patients, with methodological classification of arithmetic mean 8/10 in the PEDro scale. From the studies included in this review, it was found that 4 showed the effectiveness of SWT and 2 did not show less effectiveness compared to other intervention techniques. Conclusion: SWT therapy has positive effects on TA, but showed limitations. There are other treatments more effective than the SWT depending on the cases. RSWT appear to be more effective than ESWT. Also, SWT coupled with another intervention technique appear to be more effective than SWT isolated in the treatments of TA.
