Abstract(s)
Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that in itself does not kill, but in the short and long term, when poorly controlled originates many complications. One of these complications is the diabetic foot which is the main cause of non-traumatic lower limb amputation. You can prevent diabetic foot, but for it to be possible it is necessary that patients know how to proceed. It is with this goal the study was conducted in order to evaluate the knowledge of diabetic patients compared to diabetic foot risk factors. Consequently, professional care, education programs and personal care can prevent potential problems and improve the quality of life of people with diabetes. After performing clinical teaching at the Health Centre, where we have been in direct contact with patients with diabetes, they awoke us a love and special care, leading us to invest in this area and seek to know if they have enough information to prevent diabetic foot. For this work we used a sample of 30 users of a Health Centre in Greater Porto, with diabetes who responded to a questionnaire in order to know the knowledge they have about the diabetic foot risk factors. The results showed that the patients included in our sample have knowledge of diabetic foot risk factos.
