Abstract(s)
Objective: This paper intend to demonstrate the importance of school intervention programs and knowledge in children about postural problems and best way to avoid them. The propose of this study is to understand if school children have this knowledge. Methods: For this purpose we use questionnaire to evaluate the ergonomic knowledge of children (Festas, 2010). Students from the 3rd or 4th year of a Basic School (n = 36) were selected, with ages between 8 and 10 years old. Results: The majority had excellent or very good knowledge in practical (91,94%) and theoretical (82, 84%) questions, but when confronted with actual theoretic-practic questions the results were mediocre (18,05%). No significant relationship was found between age and knowledge but, there was significantly better results when comparing genders, being the female one more accurate. Conclusion: Children have very good and excellent Knowledge, respectively, however the theoretic-practic knowledge are mediocre. Showing the importance of intervention in schools at an early age.
