Abstract(s)
qual participaram 17 pacientes.

This study aims to analyze the communicative limitations of laryngectomized patients accompanied by Speech Therapy in 2016, at the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the Hospital Center of Porto - Santo António Hospital, in which 17 patients participated. Data were collected through three questionnaires, the SECEL, CAPAL and the patient characterization questionnaire. The results revealed that the average age of this condition is 60 years of age and that illiteracy levels are very high. The various means of communication used by these patients has been described and it has been proven that the Murmured Speech is the most common communication medium, which makes it more difficult for the receivers to perceive the message. Voice is described as the most important factor for the quality of life of these patients and, in view of their difficulties at this level, other communication contexts have been explored, for which there are also barriers such as talking on the phone and Talk in noisy places, which should be overcome with the help of professionals, family, friends and society in general. Thus, with this research, it was possible to better recognize these barriers inherent to the communicative process and to alert to a more effective intervention on the part of the professionals and adaptations of the community in general.
