Abstract(s)
A investigação é um fator indiscutível para a qualidade da prática de enfermagem. A enfermagem necessita de uma base de sustentação, com princípios metodológicos e científicos que lhe confiram particularidade, rigor e objetividade. A investigação em enfermagem gira em torno de duas grandes abordagens: a qualitativa e a quantitativa. A investigação quantitativa tem um peso histórico maior, mas a investigação qualitativa tem vindo a ganhar uma maior relevância graças à ligação com as ciências humanas. “É como se se tivesse redescoberto a necessidade, ou mesmo a urgência, de pôr em questão o modelo científico clássico que visa a quantificação dos fenómenos sociais” (Roxo, 2004: 199), o que, em inúmeras situações, se afigura de excessivamente redutor (Lessard-Hébert, Goyette e Boutin, 1994).
De modo a concretizar a Licenciatura em Enfermagem, da Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Fernando Pessoa, foi proposta a elaboração de um trabalho de investigação com o seguinte tema “Conhecimento dos idosos sobre controlo da hipertensão”.
Assim, a pergunta de partida para este trabalho é: Qual o conhecimento dos idosos em relação ao controlo da hipertensão?
Esta investigação apresenta um caráter quantitativo, descritivo e transversal. A recolha de dados foi realizada através de um questionário efectuado a idosos do concelho de Cabeceiras de Bastos, com 20 perguntas e dividido em duas partes: a primeira caracteriza a amostra e a segunda parte avalia o conhecimento dos idosos relativamente ao modo como fazem o controlo da sua hipertensão. A investigação pretende identificar os conhecimentos dos idosos sobre a hipertensão. Como tal, pretendo, no fim da investigação, atingir este objetivo e aclarar um conjunto de ideias e atividades que estão ligados ao tema.
Com os resultados obtidos podemos dizer que o grupo que respondeu ao nosso questionário, possuem conhecimentos sobre o que fazer para controlar a hipertensão, embora também possamos constatar que a maioria das vezes não colocam em prática os conhecimentos. A concretização deste estudo foi possível graças à contribuição dos intervenientes, desde Instituições até às pessoas que o apoiaram afetivamente.
Research constitutes an unquestionable matter to the qualitity of the practice of nursing. Nursing needs a sustainable basis founded on certain methodological principles that give it its particularity, its throroughness and objectivity. Research in Nursing is based on two main approaches: the qualitative and the quantitative approach. The quantitative approach has a bigger historical importance. Nevertheless the qualitative approach has been achieving a higher degree of relevance thanks to the connection to the Human Sciences. “It is as if the need was discovered, or even the urgency, to question the classical scientific model, that directs its action to the quantification of social phenomena” (Roxo,2004:199), which, in several situations, is extremely reductive(Lessard-Hébert, Goyette e Boutin, 1994) . In order to finhish the degree in Nursing of the Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Fernando Pessoa (Univertity of Fernando Pessoa Health Sciences Departement) I was purposed to do a research project on the topic “ The knowledge of the Elderly on Hypertension”. So the starting question of this project is: What is the knowledge of the elderly in terms of hypertension control. This research presentes a quantitative, descritive and universal trait. The collection of data was done through a questionnaire directed to the elderly of the municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto. The questionnaire consisted of twenty questions, divided in two parts: the first describes the sample and the second evaluates their knowledge related to the way they control hypertension.Consequently, I intend, in the end of this research, to achieve this goal and to enlighten some ideas and activities related to this topic. The research results eneable us to say that the goup who responded to our questionaire knows what to do to control hypertension. However, we could also conclude that most of the time they don’t put their knowledge into practice. This study was possible thanks to the contribution of all who directly took part in it like the individuals, the institutions and also those people who affectively supported it.
