Abstract(s)
During the four waves of development of the feminist movement, which truly began with post-World War I, women gained several rights: civil rights, the right to vote, and the right to property. However, in the criminal area, the belittling of women continued, as shown by the number of crimes committed against women in the world. Crimes of a sexual nature, such as sexual abuse, harassment and rape, tend to be an essentially male phenomenon, in contrast to their essentially female victims. The term feminicide has been increasingly used and discussed, taking into account the high number of victims per year, solely due to their gender. Domestic or gender-based violence are crimes, usually committed by men against women. This project aims to analyze the way in which certain types of crimes against women are fought, based on gender inequality as an obstacle to this strategy. The general objective points to the awareness of the problem of the lack of this equality, and what it can provide. During the research, a pre-questionnaire was designed, which included the contribution of an expert and aimed at building a questionnaire applied to Portuguese entities responsible for the area of equality and the area of fighting crime.
