Abstract(s)
Desde o início das civilizações, que o álcool possui um papel fundamental na história da humanidade, participando conjuntamente no sagrado e no profano.
Embora sejam os fatores individuais e do meio que condicionam o consumo excessivo de álcool, promovendo a ação patogénica e a criação de dependência ao fim de um tempo, cabe ressaltar que o álcool é classificado como o agente da doença alcoólica.
Desta forma, é importante reconhecer que a doença alcoólica é um problema de todos os estratos sociais e económicos, de todas as idades, religiões, países e de ambos os sexos, sendo portanto, um dos maiores problemas de saúde pública com que se defrontam muitos países do mundo.
Por outro lado, é sabido que subsistem muitas incertezas e questões relativamente à génese e à origem das dependências, sendo que vários autores destacam a existência de múltiplos fatores sociogenéticos e culturais que explicam a vulnerabilidade individual e as grandes discrepâncias de reação ao álcool. Since the beginning of times, alcohol as played a fundamental role in the history of mankind, being a part of both the holy and the profane.
Even thought it’s a known fact that both social and individual elements are directly related to the excessive alcohol consumption, thus promoting the pathogenic action and addiction after a while, we should reinforce that alcohol is classified as the agent of the alcoholic disease.
It’s important to acknowledge that the alcoholic disease is a common problem to all social and economic layers, to all ages, religions, countries and sexes. It’s one of the biggest health problems in the world.
On the other hand, it’s known that there are a lot of uncertainties and questions regarding the genesis and the origin of the addictions and several authors reinforce the existence of multiple sociogenetic and cultural factors that explain the individual vulnerability and the big discrepancies in the reaction to alcohol.
