Abstract(s)
Objective: Understand what kind of modifications could a 6 week plyometric training cause on lower limbs’ explosive power of young female volleyball athletes. Methods: A longitudinal experimental study was performed. A sample of 24 participants was divided into two groups: control and experimental. The experimental group performed a plyometric training plan for the lower limbs during 6 weeks. The effects of this training were evaluated through the comparison between the measurement of two explosive leg strength tests (Squat jump; standing long jump) and (adipometry; weight), before and after the execution of the plyometric plan. Results: The selected protocol induced an increase in leg strength, traduced by a significant increase on horizontal (10,4cm (5.97%)) and vertical jumping power (3.7cm (1.52 %)), between initial and final evaluation moments in the experimental group. Conclusions: The application of a 6 week plyometric protocol in young female volleyball athletes seems to reveal an increase of explosive strength and jump, improving their performance.
