Abstract(s)
It is known that an inadequate nutritional status accompanied by poor oral health negatively affects the overall health and well-being of individuals. In the case of vulnerable individuals, such as migrants, who are subject to high levels of stress, it is important to assess the interaction of these two variables. In addition, according to the current geopolitical context, this theme aims to be a contribution to the scientific discussion in the indicated areas. To this end, a narrative review study was carried out, based on 45 articles published in English and Portuguese, in the period from 2013 to 2023, through the databases: PubMed, b-On and Scielo Portugal. From the various studies selected, it is verified that regardless of the age group of the migrants (children, adults and the elderly), they have worse oral health than the natives of the country where they are, and that these results are often due to their own perception of the need for oral health care, and that the level of acculturation of migrants influences their nutritional status.
