Abstract(s)
Objective: This literature review aims to verify the effects of respiratory physiotherapy and the optimization of knowledge about the different interventions of physiotherapy for airway clearance in adults with Cystic Fibrosis. Methodology: A survey was conducted at Pubmed and Web of Science in December 2021 to identify randomized controlled studies that evaluate airway clearance between intervention group (GI) and control group (CG) or other intervention group (GI2). The methodological quality was evaluated through the Physiotherapy Evidence Database scoring scale (PEDro). Results: Eight articles were included. In the analysis of methodological quality, an average of 5.9 was obtained on the PEDro scale. All articles demonstrated improvements in airway clearance by increasing sputum rate collected after different interventions, both in stable patients and with exacerbation of respiratory symptoms. Conclusion: Physiotherapy interventions seem to improve lung function and promote quality of life in adults with QF.
