Abstract(s)
This essay argues that the novels written by Chilean author Alejandro Zambra (1975) are an example of literary minimalism, a trend akin to minimalism in visual arts that is part of what Luz Horne calls a “Return to Realism” in Latin American narrative. By using this minimalism, Zambra creates a social and political literature (which can be linked to the realism of the 1930s) and thus contributes to the recent debates about historical memory.
