dc.description.abstractA recessão gengival é caracterizada pela migração apical da margem gengival, expondo as raízes dentárias e podendo causar sensibilidade, cáries radiculares e comprometimento estético. Um dos tratamentos indicados é o recobrimento radicular, visando restaurar a função e a estética. Contudo, segundo os autores, diversos fatores influenciam o sucesso do enxerto, incluindo o tabagismo, um hábito ainda prevalente e reconhecido por seus efeitos negativos na cavidade oral, especialmente na cicatrização dos tecidos. Por meio, desta revisão integrativa, o objetivo é perceber qual a influência do hábito tabágico na eficácia clínica de recobrimentos radicular de recessões gengivais. A pesquisa foi realizada nas bases PubMed, ScienceDirect e Google Scholar, incluindo artigos em português e inglês publicados entre 2008 e 2024. Foram considerados meta-análises, casos clínicos, estudos clínicos controlados e randomizados, estudos prospetivos, artigos de revisão e revisões sistemáticas. Utilizou-se a estratégia PICO e o fluxograma PRISMA, e foram incluídos 7 artigos. Os artigos são convergentes quanto ao fato de que o tabagismo tem um efeito negativo sobre o sucesso do recobrimento radicular. Apesar disso, alguns fatores relacionados ao tabagismo apresentam divergências entre os estudos.por
dc.description.abstractGingival recession is characterized by the apical migration of the gingival margin, exposing the dental roots and potentially causing sensitivity, root caries, and aesthetic compromise. One of the treatments indicated is root coverage, aiming to restore function and aesthetics. However, several factors influence the success of the graft, including smoking, a still prevalent habit known for its negative effects on the oral cavity, especially in tissue healing. Through this integrative review, the objective was to understand the influence of smoking habits on the clinical efficacy of root coverage for gingival recessions. The research was conducted using the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases, including articles in Portuguese and English published between 2008 and 2024. Meta-analyses, clinical cases, controlled and randomized clinical trials, prospective studies, review articles, and systematic reviews were considered. The PICO strategy and PRISMA flowchart were used, and 7 articles were included. The articles are convergent in stating that smoking has a negative effect on the success of root coverage. Nevertheless, some factors related to smoking show divergences among the studies.eng
