Abstract(s)
Pulmonary Tuberculosis is considered a public health problem. For this reason, the treatment is free and with observation of the medication intake so that there is a greater adherence to the therapeutic regimen. Regularly, pneumological diagnostic centers are also used for Pulmonary Tuberculosis, and this is clearly not the only pathology there. However, for this purpose, a diagnostic test for Pulmonary Tuberculosis, an evaluation of the mantoux test and the medication taken by nurses to users infected with PD are performed. Once the nursing students at the outset will be future healthcare professionals may eventually come to dealing with users infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. As such, in this study we try to understand the knowledge of the first year nursing students about Pulmonary Tuberculosis, since they do not yet have training on this topic nor any clinical teaching. Thus, the title of this work is "Knowledge of the first year students of the Licentiate of Nursing of the Fernando Pessoa University on Pulmonary Tuberculosis, in the 2017/2018 school year." This is a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study. The target population of study are all the students enrolled in the first year of the Licentiate of Nursing of the Fernando Pessoa University in 2018. The data collection instrument used in this study is the Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) questionnaire of the World Health Organization (WHO) 2008. This is translated and validated in Portuguese. The method of data collection will be the completion of a physical questionnaire. The results indicate that there is a certain lack of knowledge of the study population, mainly related to the prevention, treatment, observed medication intake, contagion and treatment costs.
