Do Leviatã à microfísica do poder: duas conceções do poder em Hobbes e Foucault

dc.description.abstractEste projeto de graduação consiste num estudo comparativo de natureza qualitativa que analisa a evolução das formas de exercício do poder e dos mecanismos de controlo social, traçando o percurso desde a soberania centralizada e absoluta defendida por Thomas Hobbes até às conceções difusas teorizadas por Michel Foucault. É examinada inicialmente a perspetiva hobbesiana, na qual o medo e a insegurança inerentes ao estado de natureza (a "guerra de todos contra todos") motivam os indivíduos a celebrar um contrato social, legitimando a criação do Leviatã como um poder soberano centralizado e indivisível indispensável para garantir a paz e a segurança coletiva. Em contrapartida, analisa-se a rutura paradigmática introduzida por Foucault, que reconfigura o poder como uma rede imaterial, descentralizada e capilar de relações estratégicas indissociáveis do conhecimento (poder-saber), operando no quotidiano através do poder disciplinar, da vigilância contínua, da normalização e da biopolítica na gestão das populações. Por fim, o estudo discute as implicações destas transformações para a liberdade e a cidadania nas sociedades contemporâneas, concluindo que a realidade atual do século XXI é marcada pela coexistência de ambas as lógicas, onde os novos desafios da vigilância digital e da recolha massiva de dados demonstram a persistente atualidade do pensamento de ambos os filósofos na contemporaneidade global. Assim sendo, este trabalho expõe como se articulam tais conceitos e dinâmicas sociais na atualidade política.por
dc.description.abstractThis graduation project consists of a comparative study of a qualitative nature that analyzes the evolution of the forms of exercise of power and the mechanisms of social control, tracing the path from the centralized and absolute sovereignty defended by Thomas Hobbes to the diffuse conceptions theorized by Michel Foucault. The Hobbesian perspective is initially examined, in which the fear and insecurity inherent in the state of nature (the "war of all against all") motivate individuals to conclude a social contract, legitimizing the creation of Leviathan as a centralized and indivisible sovereign power indispensable to guarantee peace and collective security. In contrast, it analyzes the paradigmatic rupture introduced by Foucault, who reconfigures power as an immaterial, decentralized and capillary network of strategic relations inseparable from knowledge (power-knowledge), operating in daily life through disciplinary power, continuous surveillance, normalization and biopolitics in population management. Finally, the study discusses the implications of these transformations for freedom and citizenship in contemporary societies, concluding that the current reality of the twenty-first century is marked by the coexistence of both logics, where the new challenges of digital surveillance and massive data collection demonstrate the persistent relevance of the thought of both philosophers in modern global context.
