Abstract(s)
Objective: Evaluate the effect of Global Postural Re-Education (GPR) when it comes to increasing flexibility and the efficiency of a hamstring strengthening muscular protocol, as well as the relationship between muscular strenght and flexibility. Methodology: It is an experimental longitudinal prospective study with 19 elements of both sexes, with an age average of 22.16 ±1,43 years old, split randomly in three groups: the controle (GC), the GF group who did hamstring muscular strengthening and the GFA group who did two GPR postures. The flexibility has been evaluated trough the Sit and Reach Test in all participants, and the muscular strength through the 1RM calculation in the GF and GFA group. Results: After the application of the GPR protocol, it was noticed that the GFA had increased significantly the flexibility (p=0,027), however only the GF group had improved flexibility when compared with the GC. The muscular strength was not significantly increased in the experimental groups, but were observed major gains in the GFA in comparison with the GF (p=0.013). Conclusion: The results show that flexibility potentiates the gain of muscular strength.
