Abstract(s)
Lately terrorist attacks in tourists’ destinations such as Egypt (November 2016), France (July
2016) or Belgium (March 2016) showed that terrorism is becoming more repeated threat, close
to European safe zone and in popular tourists’ destinations part of daily life. Mainly those
destinations were already victimized in the past. Researches on this topic of consumer
behaviour in risky destination were already made in the past, but since the world is becoming
more global and developed with new regional war zones and threats every day, new researches
how perception changes after threating events in every period is needed.
This dissertation aims to understand travel risk perception in tourism destinations and to
compare of crisis management in selected destinations. For this purpose, it uses quantitative
and qualitative approach. Quantitative method gives answers such as how security of
destinations changed after the threat and how the threat has affected the image of the destination
while qualitative method through the use of the interviews offers issues to understand different
crisis management models and management response to a threat and recovery time.
Thus, this research hopes to provide academic and managerial contributions for travel risk
perception in tourism destinations and crisis management in selected destinations.
The study is divided in two main parts: theoretical and practical one. The theoretical part
explores the main concepts about the security of tourists and tourism consumer behaviour in
risky decision-making. It also reviews crisis management in tourism destinations. Practical part
offers an answer how consumer tourist behaviour changes through perceived risk. It also
identifies impacts on affected tourism destinations and explores travels to revisit affected
destinations.
