Abstract(s)
The stamp technique is a restorative technique which, with the help of the development of a negative of the occlusal face, makes it possible to treat carious lesions while preserving the initial dental anatomy. It is an innovative and effective method, especially applicable to the restoration of posterior teeth. The aim of this paper is to present a clinical case demonstrating the stamp technique protocol for restoring posterior teeth. The work was carried out at the Dental Medicine Pedagogical Clinic at Fernando Pessoa University. The bibliographical research was limited to the last 25 years, including articles written in English, French, and Portuguese, and a total of 60 bibliographical references were used in the writing of this review. The clinical case shows that this is a restoration technique that preserves the tooth, minimising the loss of healthy tooth structure compared to traditional techniques. The stamp technique allows for a negative reproduction or a small impression of the occlusal topography of the tooth, used when the tooth has no visible decay or structural loss. The stamp technique in the restoration of posterior teeth offers several advantages, including the preservation of the tooth's original anatomy, a reduction in clinical time, and improvements in the precision and aesthetics of the restoration. However, it also has disadvantages, such as the need for intact original occlusal conditions, dependence on specific materials and advanced technical skills, and limitations in cases of excessive tooth wear. Therefore, the choice of technique should be based on careful assessment of each individual case, taking into account the specific conditions of the tooth and the skill of the dentist.
