| dc.description.abstract | O bloqueio do nervo alveolar inferior (BNAI) é a técnica anestésica mais utilizada pelos Médicos Dentistas para anestesiar os dentes mandibulares posteriores. Esta técnica apresenta alguns índices de insucesso e um grau de dificuldade elevado, sendo que patologias como a pulpite irreversível aumentam ainda mais a incapacidade de obter uma anestesia bem-sucedida. A medicação pré-operatória, mais especificamente Anti-Inflamatórios Não Esteroides (AINES) e corticosteroides, provocam uma maior eficácia no BNAI pois permitem diminuir a libertação de um conjunto de mediadores inflamatórios que interferem com a atuação dos anestésicos. Os principais objetivos desta revisão narrativa são: perceber quais são os motivos que levam à dificuldade do BNAI, entender as razões que podem interferir na anestesia, como sejam, o processo inflamatório subjacente à pulpite irreversível e realçar a importância da medicação pré-operatória, nomeadamente os AINES, no sucesso do BNAI. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The Inferior alveolar nerve block (BNAI) is the anesthetic technique most used by Dentists to anesthetize mandibular posterior teeth. This technique already has some failure rates and a high degree of difficulty, and pathologies such as irreversible pulpitis further increase the inability to obtain successful anesthesia. Preoperative medication, more specifically Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroids, cause greater efficiency in the BNAI as they allow reducing the release of a set of inflammatory mediators that interfere with the action of anesthetics. The main objectives of this narrative review are: understand the reasons that lead to the difficulty of BNAI, to understand the reasons that can interfere with anesthesia, such as the inflammatory process underlying irreversible pulpitis, and to highlight the importance of premedication -operative, namely NSAIDs, in the success of BNAI. | pt_PT |
