Abstract(s)
OR "axial spondyloarthritis") AND (exercise) AND (“quality of life”). Na PEDro recorreu-se às seguintes palavras (“ankylosing spondylitis”/exercise/”quality of life”) OR (“axial spondyloarthritis”/exercise/”quality of life”).
Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the axial skeleton, triggering numerous limitations. The treatment combines pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques, where we can include exercise. Objective: To verify the effectiveness of supervised exercise on the Quality of Life (QoL) of patients with AS. Methodology: To formulate the clinical question, the PICO method was used. Thus, the computerized bibliographic search was performed through PubMed/Medline, Academic Search Complete, Web of Science and Cochrane (CENTRAL) databases with the combination of keywords: (“ankylosing spondylitis” OR “axial spondyloarthritis”) AND (exercise) AND (“quality of life”). PEDro used the following words (“ankylosing spondylitis”/exercise/ “quality of life”) OR (“axial spondyloarthritis”/exercise/”quality of life”). This research aimed to determine the randomized controlled trials (RCT's) that addressed the effectiveness of supervised exercise on the QoL of these patients. Methodological quality was analysed using the PEDro Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scoring Scale. Results: Seven studies were included with an arithmetic mean of 6.57. A total of 405 participants were recruited. Conclusion: Conflicting data were obtained on the type of exercise to be applied to improve QoL. Furthermore, supervised exercise wasn’t superior to unsupervised.
