Abstract(s)
Objective: To analyze the effects of hydrotherapy in terms of function, edema and range of motion in the postoperative period of hip prostheses or knee prostheses. Methodology: Research in computerized databases Pubmed,EBSCO and PEDro to identify randomized controlled trials that analyzed the effects of hydrotherapy in patients undergoing hip or knee prosthesis surgery in terms of function, edema and range of motion. Results: This review included 5 articles involving 652 individuals, with a methodological classification of 6.6 on the PEDro scale. Among the articles mentioned in this review , 2 refer to the intervention of aquatic therapy in patients with total prosthesis of the hip or knee, 2 only refer to hydrotherapy intervention in patients submitted to knee prosthesis unilaterally and only 1 include aquatic therapy with the base treatment compared to the base treatment applied in patients with total knee replacement. Conclusion: Hydrotherapy plays an important role in the functional recovery of these individuals allowing the individual to resume their ADLs and also improves the quality of life.
