Deglutição atípica: diagnóstico e tratamento – estudo transversal

dc.description.abstractObjetivos: Esta investigação teve como objetivo avaliar diferentes diagnósticos e tratamentos da deglutição atípica, bem como as causas e consequências que lhe estão associadas, comparando as abordagens em dois países diferentes: Portugal e França. Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo quantitativo epidemiológico transversal. Através de um questionário de autopreenchimento em português e francês, constituído por 16 perguntas, online. As respostas ao questionário foram recolhidas e armazenadas numa base de dados criada a partir do programa Excel® (Microsoft Office 2019, Microsoft, EUA) e as análises estatísticas foram realizadas usando o software IBM© SPSS© Statistics vs 25.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, IBM, EUA). Foi considerado um nível de significância de 0,05. Resultados: Os resultados apresentados pelos médicos dentistas portugueses e franceses são relativamente semelhantes, como mostra a análise do teste Qui-quadrado, que não revela a existência de uma relação significativa entre os países e um fator secundário. No entanto, existem algumas exceções no que diz respeito ao local de trabalho e ao sucesso do tratamento. Conclusões: O diagnóstico de deglutição atípica é feito quando a língua é protrusa, o que constitui o principal fator em ambos os países. A deglutição atípica tem uma causa multifatorial, pelo que, por vezes, é necessário recorrer a diferentes tratamentos. Independentemente do país, os principais tratamentos utilizados são a ortodontia e a terapia da fala.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractObjective: The aims of this research are to evaluate the different diagnoses and treatments of atypical swallowing, as well as the causes and consequences associated with it, comparing Portugal and France. Methods: A cross-sectional quantitative epidemiological study was carried out. A 16-question self-completion questionnaire in Portuguese and French was completed online. The answers to the questionnaire were collected and stored in a database created using the Excel® program (Microsoft Office 2019, Microsoft, USA) and the statistical analyses were carried out using the IBM© SPSS© Statistics vs 25.0 software (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, IBM, USA). A significance level of 0.05 was considered. Results: The results presented by Portuguese and French dentists are relatively similar, as shown by the chi-square test, which reveals no significant relationship between the countries and a secondary factor. However, there are some exceptions with regard to place of work and treatment success. Conclusion: The diagnosis of atypical swallowing is made when the tongue is protruded, which is the main factor in both countries. Atypical swallowing has a multifactorial cause, so sometimes it is necessary to resort to different treatments. Regardless of the country, the main treatments used are orthodontics and speech therapy.pt_PT
