Abstract(s)
Objective: This study aims to compare the conventional orthodontic treatments with that of transparent aligners for correcting malocclusions. The review was based on studies published in the last ten years, extracted from the PubMed, Cochrane Library and Lilacs databases. Studies involving patients with craniofacial anomalies or who had received previous orthodontic treatment were excluded. The keywords used were “conventional orthodontics”, “clear aligners”, “efficacy” and “malocclusion”. Methodology: A literature review was carried out to evaluate and compare the results of the two therapeutic approaches. Articles were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Transparent aligners offer similar advantages to conventional methods in certain types of malocclusions, providing benefits such as greater aesthetics and comfort for patients. However, their effectiveness depends on the degree of patient compliance. Conclusion: This study provides a comparative analysis of conventional orthodontic treatments and transparent aligners, guiding the choice of treatment based on effectiveness, comfort and patient aesthetic preferences.
