dc.description.abstract	Objective: The aim of this study was to answer the following PICO question: Does immediate implant (II) placement show a similar success rate in terms of clinical performances, aesthetic outcomes, PES as the delayed implant (DI) placement in healthy adult patients requiring single-tooth replacement in the maxilla aesthetic zone? Methodology: A systematic review was conducted using the PICO framework. Electronic searches of publications from 2014 to 2023 were performed in PubMed, Wiley Online Library, and Cochrane Library. Results: Eleven randomized controlled trials were included, with follow-up ranging from 3 months to 5 years. A total of 820 implants were placed with comparable success rates between II and DI protocols, generally above 90% (overall average of 98.53%). Complication rates were low, with peri-implantitis being the most common. PES scores were generally higher for II over the long term, although differences were minimal and not statistically significant. Gingival recession was slightly greater in DI, with similar patterns seen in the papilla index. Conclusion: Both II and DI placements are effective for single-tooth replacement in the maxillary aesthetic zone, with high success rates and satisfactory aesthetic outcomes. The choice should be individualized based on clinical context, patient preferences, and aesthetic demands. II may be preferred when aesthetics are paramount, but DI remains a reliable and effective option, particularly in complex cases.	eng
dc.description.abstract	Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi responder à seguinte questão PICO: A colocação imediata de implantes demonstra uma taxa de sucesso semelhante em termos de desempenho clínico, resultados estéticos e PES, comparada à colocação de implantes diferida em pacientes adultos saudáveis que necessitam de substituição de um único dente na zona estética da maxila? Metodologia: Para a realização desta revisão sistemática, utilizámos os critérios PICO com o objetivo de formular a questão que este trabalho pretende responder. Foram efetuadas pesquisas eletrónicas contemplando publicações de 2014 a 2023, nas bases de dados PubMed, Wiley Online Library e Cochrane Library. Resultados: Onze estudos (ensaios clínicos randomizados) foram incluídos, com seguimento de 3 meses a 5 anos. Foram colocados 820 implantes, com taxas de sucesso semelhantes para os protocolos “Delayed Implant” (DI) e “Immediate Implant” (II), geralmente acima de 90% (média geral de 98,53%). As taxas de complicações são geralmente baixas em ambos os grupos, sendo a peri-implantite a complicação mais comum. Esta análise demonstra que os II geralmente apresentam melhores pontuações PES a longo prazo. No entanto, a diferença em relação aos DI é mínima e não significativa. A recessão gengival é ligeiramente maior nos DI, mas sem diferença significativa. O mesmo se aplica ao índice de papila. Conclusão: Tanto a colocação imediata quanto a retardada de implantes são estratégias eficazes para a substituição de um único dente na zona estética maxilar, com altas taxas de sucesso e resultados estéticos satisfatórios. A escolha entre II e DI deve ser personalizada conforme o cenário clínico, necessidades estéticas e preferências do paciente. A colocação imediata pode ser preferida quando a estética é crucial, embora o DI continue a ser uma opção fiável em casos complexos.	por
