Abstract(s)
Artigos excluídos referentes a alterações sistémicas associadas.
Pregnancy generates hormonal changes that increase the risk of exposure to oral infections, such as gingivitis gravidarum. The objective of the study is to verify how progesterone and estrogen affect the gingival tissue during pregnancy, and in what quarter the condition worsens. Methodology: We carried out a research on the platforms: PubMed® and SciencDirect®, with the descriptors "pregnancy gingivitis", "pregnant woman and gingivitis", "gingivitis gravidium", "pregnancy and gum disease". Inclusion criteria, articles published between the years 2006 to 2018, in Spanish, English and Portuguese. Excluded articles related to systemic changes associated. In total, 109 articles were searched. Results: Thirty - one articles were studied, with relevance to hormonal gingival disease in pregnant women. Conclusion: The main mechanisms of association between pregnancy and gingivitis are increased plasma hormone levels and decreased biofilm control and oral hygiene.
