Abstract(s)
A presente tese pretendeu sintetizar o conhecimento
The Internet is a major source in health information contexts, becoming one of the most used sources for young people. E-Literacy in Health is the capacity that the individual has in researching, finding, evaluating, integrating and applying regarding the resolution of health issues. This thesis aimed to synthesize the current knowledge about e-Literacy in Health in young adults, presenting a systematic review of the literature on e-Literacy in Health in young adults and an empirical study that aimed to describe the level of e- Literacy in Health in young Portuguese adults. In both, it was verified that despite the frequent use of new technologies, young people have a low level of e-Literacy in Health. In the systematic review of the literature it was verified that the greater the accessibility to the internet the better the e-Literacy in health and the perception of health. In the empirical study it was found that there is an association between e-Literacy in General Health and the perception of health, that is, the greater the e-Literacy in Health the better is the perception of health. It was also verified that the older the age, the less e-Literacy in Health. In general terms, the results suggest, therefore, the need for planning of programs to promote e-Literacy in Health, which should pay particular attention to the e- Communication Literacy.
