Abstract(s)
The evolution of the firearm homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants in 10 years in the state of Amapá is considerable: from 9.4 in 2007, it grew to 22.2 in 2017 (CERQUEIRA et al, 2019). Faced with worrying data, several prevention and punishment measures were adopted, even so, statistics show that something more needs to be done. In order to establish the analysis of the relationship between the number of firearms seized by the police and the number of deaths caused by their use annually, from 2015 to 2019, punctuating by neighborhoods in the municipality of Macapá/AP, this study was proposed. Research Project. To achieve the objective, the aforementioned study will be quantitative, of a correlational nature and of the transversal type, that is, the data will be subjected to a statistical analysis in a certain period of time (2015 to 2019) and will relate two variables: the amount of weapons seized and the number of deaths caused by their use. These samples will be obtained through data related to the number of firearms seized in the Municipality of Macapá, together with the statistics sector of the Military Police and the Center for Integration of Social Defense Operations (CIODES), both in the State of Amapá, referring to the apprehensions made by the Military Police at the time of the occurrences and the data referring to the deaths perpetrated with the use of firearms in that period. The data obtained on the number of firearms seized and, on the deaths, perpetrated with their use will be planned in Excell and, later, in the GeoDa program. As for weapons, they will be classified according to type, brand, caliber and neighborhood of incidence and deaths will be classified according to nature, sex, age group and neighborhoods of incidence. From the results, the neighborhoods with the highest number of firearms seizures and with the highest incidence of firearm deaths in the period from 2015 to 2019 will be scored in order to subsidize the Public Security Secretariat in the study of a way to strengthen public policies control of movement and use of firearms.
