Abstract(s)
Football is a sport that can provide some risk of injury. Probably a complete warm-up program to develop strength, agility and endurance, such as "FIFA 11+", will contribute to the prevention of injuries. Objective: assess the type of injuries and the incidence of the same in a junior football team and see if the program "FIFA 11+" is effective in increasing physical performance and thus help to prevent injuries in football. Methods: the sample consisted of 17 athletes and divided into two groups. In the control group (9 athletes) was maintained the warm-up used during the training sessions and the experimental group (8 athletes) was implemented the warm-up program “FIFA 11+”. This program was applied twice a week for six weeks, and to evaluate their effectiveness were performed 3 tests, Three-step Horizontal Jump, Prone Hold and Illinois Agility Test. Results: as the characterization of the injuries nature, were reported ankle and knee injuries, such us tendon injuries, ligament, bruises and dislocations, being the ligament injuries the most frequent ones. After the implementation of the program, there was a significant increase in the resistance of the ‘core’ muscles in experimental group evaluated by the Prone Hold test. In other tests no significant changes were observed. Conclusion: It can be seen that the program "FIFA 11+" was effective on improving muscle strength of the "core".
