Quando se fala da área da periodontia, tem a imagem dos métodos de tratamentos convencionais não cirúrgico que o médico dentista pode usar para garantir a melhor saúde dos tecidos de sustentação do dente. Hoje com a constante evolução das técnicas de tratamento dentário e particularmente na periodontia, os equipamentos do médico dentista estão evoluindo com o mesmo objetivo. O laser díodo é um dos mais utilizados em periodontia. O objetivo desta revisão bibliográfica integrativa permite destacar as várias possibilidades oferecidas pelo laser díodo na prática periodontal quotidiana, bem como os benefícios que podem trazer. Com a utilização cada vez mais regular deste tipo de tecnologia, é importante saber se, comparando com técnicas mais antigas e com menos tecnologia, o médico dentista consegue tratar o paciente de forma mais eficaz. Por razões óbvias, o tema da segurança deve ser abordado ao mesmo tempo que falamos de laser díodo. Foi efetuada uma pesquisa nos motores de busca PubMed, Elsevier, ResearchGate e Science Direct. A pesquisa foi limitada no tempo de 2005 a 2023. Foram incluídos artigos de investigação, revisões bibliográficas, casos clínicos, dissertações de mestrado e revistas médicas ou dentárias redigidas em português, inglês, espanhol, francês e italiano. Os critérios de exclusão foram os seguintes: artigos fora do período definido e artigos que, após a leitura, não apresentavam conteúdo científico relevante relacionado ao tema.
When we talk about the field of periodontics, we have the image of conventional, non-surgical treatment methods that the dentist can use to ensure the best health of the tooth's supporting tissues. Today, with the constant evolution of dental treatment techniques and particularly in periodontics, the dentist's equipment is evolving with the same objective. The diode laser is one of the most widely used in periodontics. The aim of this integrative literature review is to highlight the various possibilities offered by the diode laser in everyday periodontal practice, as well as the benefits it can bring. With the increasingly regular use of this type of technology, it is important to know whether, compared to older techniques with less technology, the dentist can treat the patient more effectively. For obvious reasons, the topic of safety should be addressed at the same time as we talk about lasers. A search was carried out on the PubMed, Elsevier, ResearchGate and Science Direct search engines. The search was limited in time from 2005 to 2023. Research papers, bibliographical reviews, clinical cases, master's dissertations, and medical or dental journals written in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Italian were included. The exclusion criteria were as follows: articles outside the defined period and articles which, after reading, did not have relevant scientific content related to the topic.
