| dc.description.abstract | A infertilidade é definida como a incapacidade de a mulher engravidar após 12 meses de relações sexuais regulares desprotegidas e sempre que tiver menos de 35 anos. Se tiver mais de 35 anos, este período é reduzido para 6 meses. A infertilidade afeta distintas dimensões da vida do indivíduo, sendo que no caso das mulheres existe uma forte pressão social para a maternidade. Importa, por essa razão, investigar as implicações que a infertilidade tem na mulher, na sua vida e na sua auto-imagem. O presente trabalho, qualitativo, de cariz fenomenológico descritivo, descreve as experiências de mulheres com diagnóstico de infertilidade e contextualiza as condições de emergência desse diagnóstico, os significados e as experiências de ajustamento psicossocial face à impossibilidade de ter um filho por inseminação natural. Foram conduzidas sete entrevistas, online, apoiadas num guião de entrevista semiestruturada especificamente concebido para a investigação. Como critérios de inclusão considerou-se: i. ser do sexo feminino; ii. ter idade igual ou superior a 30 anos; iii. de qualquer estado civil; iv. de nacionalidade portuguesa; e v. ter tido um diagnóstico de infertilidade há, pelo menos, 3 anos. Como critérios de exclusão foram previstos: i. ser do sexo masculino; ii. ter idade inferior a 30 anos; iii. de nacionalidade estrangeira e iv. ter tido um diagnóstico de infertilidade há menos de 3 anos. Os resultados, cuja leitura foi orientada pela análise temática, evidenciaram por parte das mulheres do estudo diversas experiências de ajustamento psicossocial, atribuindo valor às redes de suporte familiar e/ou social. O confronto com o diagnóstico de infertilidade implicou mudanças na perceção e significação individual destas mulheres. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Infertility is defined as the inability of a woman to become pregnant after 12 months of regular unprotected sex and whenever she is under 35 years of age. If she is over 35 years old, this period is reduced to 6 months. Infertility affects different dimensions of an individual's life, and in the case of women there is strong social pressure for motherhood. It is therefore important to investigate the implications that infertility has on women, on their lives and on their self-image. This qualitative, descriptive phenomenological work describes the experiences of women diagnosed with infertility and contextualizes the conditions of emergence of this diagnosis, the meanings, and experiences of psychosocial adjustment in the face of the impossibility of having a child by natural insemination. Seven interviews were conducted online, supported by a semi-structured interview specifically designed for the investigation. As inclusion criteria it was considered: i. be female; ii. be 30 years of age or older; iii. of any marital status; iv. of Portuguese nationality, and v. have had a diagnosis of infertility for at least 3 years. As exclusion criteria it was provided: i. be male; ii. be under 30 years of age; iii. of foreign nationality and iv. have been diagnosed with infertility less than 3 years ago. The results, whose reading was guided by thematic analysis, evidenced by the women in the study different experiences of psychosocial adjustment, attributing value to family and/or social support networks. The confrontation with the diagnosis of infertility implied changes in individual perception and meaning of these women. | pt_PT |
