Abstract(s)
Objective: The aim of this study was to review the literature on the influence of dietary patterns on the prevention and treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection. Methodology: A literature review was carried out using the PubMed database and the World Health Organization website. The search focused on articles from the last ten years using the following keywords: "diet AND Helicobacter pylori" and "eating habits AND Helicobacter pylori". Results: Diet does not permanently eradicate the bacteria, but when correctly applied it provides patients a number of benefits. It has been described that a diet rich in vegetables, fruit and grains grants protection against this microrganism. However, excessive intake of processed foods tends to be an infection enhancer. Conclusions: Diet has a significant impact as an adjuvant therapy for controlling Helicobacter pylori infection. However, further studies should be carried out to standardize the results.
