Abstract(s)
Objective: To analyze and identify which symptoms and signs exist after infection by covid-19 with at least six months of diagnosis and which functional limitations are present in daily life. Methodology: Computerized search in PubMed, Web of Science and EBSCO HOST databases (CINAHL Plus with Full Text, SPORTS DISCUS With Full Text, academic search complete) to obtain experimental or observational studies that reported functional limitations after covid-19 infection . Results: From a total of 440 articles, only 7 were included in the present study after a complete reading. The average age of the population included in the articles was around 40 years old. The most persistent symptoms after six months of diagnosis of the infection included muscle weakness, fatigue, dyspnea and pain/arthralgia, which consequently lead to a decrease in physical capacity. Abnormal pulmonary diffusion was also observed to be higher in females as well as in patients who were in worse conditions during hospitalization. Memory loss and lack of concentration are still present after a year of diagnosis and anxiety and depression were also two of the psychological symptoms evaluated during the studies. Conclusion: At the end of almost a year of follow-up, all studies concluded that patients who survived Covid-19 have a variety of long-lasting symptoms, leading to a decrease in quality of life. However, there is still no scientific evidence that demonstrates the functional limitations of daily life, requiring further investigation in the long term.
