O impacto do stress ocupacional na vida pessoal e profissional de Bombeiros Voluntários Portugueses

Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho de investigação foi desenvolvido no âmbito da Unidade Curricular: Dissertação, inserida no 2º ano do Mestrado em Psicologia Clínica e da Saúde, da Universidade Fernando Pessoa- Faculdade de Ciências Humanas e Sociais, no Porto. Este trabalho tem como tema “O Impacto do Stress Ocupacional na Vida Pessoal e Profissional de Bombeiros Voluntários Portugueses”. O estudo empírico seguiu a metodologia quantitativa transversal, uma vez que a recolha de dados foi restringida a um curto espaço de tempo (junho-setembro, 2023). A amostra deste trabalho é composta por 82 Bombeiros Voluntários Portugueses, de várias zonas do país, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 65 anos, cumprindo todos os critérios de inclusão definidos. Para a recolha de dados foram utilizados um questionário sociodemográfico, elaborado especificamente para recolher mais informações acerca do sexo, idade, estado civil, escolaridade, o tipo de contrato de trabalho, a categoria enquanto bombeiro voluntário, os anos de serviço, a existência ou não de um acidente de trabalho no exercício desta profissão e uma adaptação do “Questionário de Stress em Bombeiros” (QSB), desenvolvido por Gomes, no ano de 2009. De modo geral, os principais resultados obtidos demonstram que a prevalência de stress profissional na grande maioria dos bombeiros que participaram do inquérito. No que diz respeito às principais Fontes de Stress, foram percecionadas pelo grupo de participantes como mais potencializadoras de stress, questões relacionadas com “Problemas Familiares”, “Relações com Chefias” e a “Relação com Utentes/Lidar com Pessoas”. Esta investigação, realça desta forma a necessidade de se dar continuidade à realização estudos acerca desta temática, como forma de se garantir no futuro um melhor desempenho dos bombeiros no desempenho das suas funções diárias, salvaguardando sobretudo a sua saúde mental.
This research project was carried out as part of the Curricular Unit: Dissertation, which is part of the 2nd year of the Master's Degree in Clinical and Health Psychology at the Fernando Pessoa University - Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, in Porto. The theme of this work is "The Impact of Occupational Stress on the Personal and Professional Lives of Portuguese Volunteer Firefighters". The empirical study followed a cross-sectional quantitative methodology, since data collection was restricted to a short period of time (June-September 2023). The sample consisted of 82 Portuguese Volunteer Firefighters from various parts of the country, aged between 18 and 65, who met all the inclusion criteria. For data collection, a sociodemographic questionnaire was used, specifically designed to gather more information about gender, age, marital status, schooling, type of employment contract, category as a volunteer firefighter, years of service, whether or not there had been an accident at work in this profession and an adaptation of the "Questionnaire of Stress in Firefighters" (QSB), developed by Gomes in 2009. In general, the main results obtained show that the vast majority of the firefighters who took part in the survey had professional stress. With regard to the main Sources of Stress, the group of participants perceived issues related to "Family Problems", "Relationships with Managers" and "Relationships with Patients/Dealing with People" as the most stressful. This research therefore highlights the need to continue to carry out studies on this subject, as a way of ensuring that firefighters perform their daily duties better in the future, while above all safeguarding their mental health.
