Abstract(s)
The risk of injury in football is high, in a professional team with 25 players it’s expected about 50 injuries, equivalent to 2 injuries per player. Methodology: Collection data on the number and type of injuries over two seasons, body segment, month, injury mechanism, severity, in match or training. The data collection was in agreement to the FIFA- Medical Assessment and Research Centre and UEFA medical Committee, from a 23 amateur male players sample. Results: In the lower limb, stands out myalgias and bruises/lacerations, with higher incidence in the dominant limb during matches. October and january had the higher incidence of injuries. They were mostly severe and moderate. Discussion/conclusion: Thigh was mostly affected by muscle strains; knee and ankle were highly injured with severity. High incidence of tendinopathies were associated to high levels of overuse injuries. It was found a seasonal association, and higher susceptibility in the dominant limb. Higher rates of injuries in matches are explain by higher demands.
