Motores de busca da Internet podem ser uma fonte importante para que os pacientes acessem informações online relacionadas à saúde bucal, porém pouco se sabe sobre a avaliação das informações de saúde no mundo WEB. Objetivo: Avaliar as informações sobre cárie, halitose e mononucleose. As tendências de conteúdo das informações de saúde oral na internet e obter dados qualitativos e quantitativos para gerar hipóteses sobre o que os pacientes pesquisam e avaliar essas informações. Métodos: Foram selecionados 3 motores de pesquisa da Internet, Google, Bing e yahoo, por meio da avaliação dos 10 resultados da primeira página de cada um. Foram recolhidas informações num período de 48 horas e analisados comparativamente a informação dos conteúdos, científico “baseado na classificação do nível de evidência de Oxford”, clínico, operativo e preventivo sobre as três patologias. Resultados: O Google é o mais acessado e o Yahoo é o único entre os 3, que conta com um site dedicado à publicações sobre saúde oral. Foi encontrada uma concordância de aproximadamente 30% a 50% dos sites e a maioria apresentou conteúdo informações com linguagem corrente. Dentre eles, apenas um apresentou nível 1 de evidência científica, referente a cárie. Conclusão: A informação baseada cientificamente melhora a qualidade do que é lido pelos utentes por isso é necessário a verificação dos sites de saúde, pois a internet também é uma forma de promoção de saúde pública.

Method: Three search engines were selected, Google, Bing and yahoo by evaluating the 10 results of the first page of each. Data was collected over a period of 48 hours and analyzed comparatively to the scientific information "based on Level of evidence of Oxford", clinical, operative and preventive content about the three pathologies. Results: Google is the most accessed and Yahoo is the only one among the 3, which has a site dedicated to oral health publications. A concordance of approximately 30% to 50% of the sites was found and most presented content information in current language. Among them, only one presented level 1 of scientific evidence, related to caries. Conclusion: Scientifically based information improves the quality of what is read by users so it is necessary to check health websites because the internet is also a form of public health promotion.
