Abstract(s)
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects, both immediate and short-term application of Kinesio taping in handgrip strength in healthy people. Methods: A cross-sectional design and is regarded as quasi-experimental. The sample consisted of thirty-three students / former students of the University Fernando Pessoa and aged between 21 and 33 years. We used the Smedley® dynamometer brand and the data collected in kg / strength. The band used Kinesio Taping was black with 5 centimeters wide. Three evaluations were made prior to application, three immediately after applications of the Kinesio Taping, and three measurements 24 hours after application, to the side dominant / non-dominant. Results: The male has an average hand grip strength increased in all assessments in relation to women, on both sides. It was found that there is a significant difference between the 1st and 2nd assessment and between the 1st and 3rd. Conclusion: There is greater handgrip strength in men towards women, with a significant increase in both sexes after the application of Kinesio Taping.
