dc.description.abstractSendo a peri-implantite a causa mais frequente de insucesso dos implantes, o objetivo é analisar as opções de tratamento actuais, as suas limitações e considerar, na literatura disponível, os revestimentos antibacterianos para superfícies e conexão dos implantes que possam possuir atividade antibacteriana sem comprometer a osseointegração, como possíveis métodos de prevenção. Foi desenvolvida uma pesquisa da literatura com recurso a base de dados Pubmed, Science Direct e Wiley online library e foram incluídos estudos sobre os critérios diagnósticos e as causas de desenvolvimento da Perimplantite, estudos sobre os possíveis tratamentos da doença e estudos in vitro e in vivo sobre todos os revestimentos antibacterianos e foram utilizados 138 artigos. Apesar de as dificuldades técnicas de produção, os custos, a dificuldade de obter um revestimento estável ao longo do tempo e os problemas éticos que forçaram quase todos os casos à experimentação in vitro, a utilização de revestimentos antibacterianos para a implantologia oral parece promissora e digna de mais investigação.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractAs peri-implantitis is the most frequent cause of implant failure, the aim is to analyse current treatment options and their limitations and to consider, in the available literature, antibacterial coatings for implant surfaces and connections that can have antibacterial activity without compromising osseointegration, as a possiblity of prevention. A literature search was conducted using the Pubmed, Science Direct and Wiley online library databases and included studies on the diagnostic criteria and causes of the development of Perimplantitis, studies on possible treatments for the disease and in vitro and in vivo studies on all antibacterial coatings for implant surfaces and for connection that demonstrated antibacterial activity without compromising osteointegration. 138 articles were used. Despite the technical difficulties of production, the costs, the difficulty of obtaining a stable coating over time and the ethical problems that have forced almost all cases to be experimented with in vitro, the use of antibacterial coatings for oral implantology seems promising and worthy of further research.pt_PT
